How I Went From Exhausted Mom to Sleep Coach
Hey fellow tired moms (and dads)! If you're anything like I was a while ago, you're probably reading this with a cup of coffee in hand, barely keeping your eyes open, wishing for just one full night of sleep. Trust me, I get it. That was me. Well, then I began helping families get the sleep they deserve – and I got to do it all from home, while seeing my boys’ sleepy little faces every morning. But it wasn’t always like that, so let me take you back to what life looked like before I found Little Winks…
The Sleepless Struggle
At that time, I was working way too many hours (50-60 hours a week as a CPA, to be exact) while trying to juggle my two little ones, Clark and Merrick. Clark was 2, Merrick was just a few months old, and neither of them were sleeping through the night. It was rough. Like, REALLY rough. We were both beyond exhausted – running on fumes and barely hanging on.
Andrew, my amazing husband (and stay-at-home dad) was feeling the strain too. Honestly, it felt like we were both single parents. Sleepless nights had become our normal.
How We Found a Solution (and Almost Didn’t Believe It)
One day, while mindlessly scrolling Instagram, I stumbled across Little Winks and saw the title “Certified Sleep Coach.” Wait… What? There’s actually such a thing as a sleep coach? I was intrigued but also skeptical – like, how could someone teach my kids to sleep through the night? Especially without relying on bottles?
I couldn’t help myself – I shot them a DM and asked, “Can you get my 10-month-old to sleep through the night without bottles?” The reply? “Yes, we can!” So, I hopped on a free 15-minute call with Anna from Little Winks, and I have to admit, I was SUPER skeptical. I mean, after 3 years of no sleep, could this really work? But we were desperate, and I was willing to try anything except the dreaded “cry it out.”
Taking the Leap
At the time, money was tight, but we had a little bit of leftover Christmas cash, so we decided to give it a shot. Anna was so reassuring. She made me feel so comfortable, especially when I shared my biggest fear – that my bond with my kids would be negatively impacted. But she reassured me that wouldn’t happen, and honestly, that was the moment I knew we had to do this.
So, we started with Merrick. Night one, he fell asleep in 35 minutes and didn’t ask for a bottle! In fact, when we tried to give him one, he pushed it away! I was SHOCKED! Fast forward a week, and we started working with Clark. He was still using a pacifier at 2.5 years old, and we honestly thought that would never change. But guess what? He gave up the paci like it was nothing.
The Turnaround: Bedtime Became Fun Again
Before we worked with Little Winks, bedtime was a nightmare. One of us would always fall asleep in Clark’s bed, and he would wake up multiple times throughout the night needing us to give him his pacifier. It was exhausting. But after just two weeks of working with Anna, both boys were sleeping through the night, and bedtime was actually… fun. Yes, you heard that right. Fun!
Now, Andrew and I could actually enjoy a couple of hours together in the evening. We weren’t just zombies anymore. We started becoming more active with our friends and even got involved in causes we care about. It was life-changing.
A New Career Path
A few months later, I decided to become a Certified Pediatric Sleep Coach myself. I wanted to help other families who were struggling the way we had. (But, hey, that’s a story for another time 😉)
If you’re struggling with sleep like we were, I get it. You deserve restful nights and peaceful bedtimes. And guess what? There is a way to make it happen.
